Why did you decide on a Dental Field?
It perfectly blends my artistic creativity, passion for science, and desire to help people. I can use my hands and mind to make a tangible difference in someone’s health and confidence.

Hobbies and Interests:
Spending quality time with my wife and son, playing basketball, snowboarding and getting into a good board game with friends or family.

What is something people don’t know about you?
I’ve kept all my childhood action figures and Legos with the hope of passing them down to my son one day. Some might call it hoarding — I like to think of it as preserving a legacy of fun.

What is your favorite food?
A Cantonese classic called Gwai Fei Gai, also known as Empress Chicken in English. It’s a delicately poached chicken served with ginger scallion sauce.

Meet Dr. D’Avanzo

Dr. D’Avanzo is a Board Certified Orthodontist. He graduated from Albright College with a degree in biology and then obtained his DMD degree from Fairleigh Dickinson School of Dental Medicine. He also obtained his Master of Science degree in oral biology from Temple University School of Dentistry with a specialty in orthodontics.

Before Dr. D’Avanzo began specializing in orthodontics, he completed a two-year residency in general dentistry. Throughout his career, he worked in several practices and even worked as a professor at Temple University’s School of Dentistry. He has won the Children’s Award from the New Jersey Society of Dentistry and the Anesthesiology Award from the New Jersey Society of Anesthesiologists.

Dr. D’Avanzo is a top 1% Invisalign®️ provider and has treated over 10,000 Invisalign®️ cases.

“I’ve always been fascinated by teeth, which is what drew me to dentistry. Even behind the scenes, I love being part of a team that keeps people smiling. Fun fact—I’ve saved every baby tooth my daughter has lost! It’s a small reminder of how meaningful dental care can be at every stage of life.”

Hobbies and Interest:
I love spending quality time with my daughter, especially doing extracurricular activities together—it’s a big part of my life. I’m also a huge fan of rock concerts and enjoy exploring local vinyl shops. Nothing beats grabbing a good coffee from a cozy coffee shop and soaking in the vibe.

What is something people don’t know about you?
I’m active in my church, and Sundays help me recharge and stay grounded.

I love a good Chinese restaurant.

Why did you decide on the dental field?
When I was a teenager, my orthodontist inspired me, not just because of the Mercedes he drove off in, but because I got to see how much confidence he gave patients through their smiles. My mom also encouraged me to choose a career where I could wear scrubs, and dental hygiene felt like the perfect fit!.
